SOFT MATTER AND PHYSICS OF LIVING SYSTEMS GROUP
@ The Weizmann Institute
Research
Dr. Shimanovich research interests are focused on exploiting the power and potential of chemical methods to answer fundamental questions in macromolecular self-assembly, both in the context of novel soft materials and fundamental chemistry. Her lab has developed synthetic approaches to control and modulate silk protein-self-assembly pathway, allowing to tune the properties of the resulting material, including its mechanics (ultrastrong material), hydrophobicity, crystallinity, responsivity to external stimuli and biodegradability.
